something blue-ish...

since one of my very best and precious girlfriends was proposed to a couple weeks ago- i have had all things bridal on the brain. since high school, i was designated her personal dress and event designer. the big day has now begun to materialize, and i couldn't be happier to do all the designing. 

i personally, am quite the modern classicist that loves to dip my toes in non-traditional whimsey. consequetly- i am absolutely loving the pale aqua bridal trend. from dresses to desserts, i want to eat it all up!

The J.Crew spirit would never be what it is without the one and only- my future boss*...Jenna Lyons.

The brand's creative director has become SUCH a super star, she has even made an appearance on Opera. My favorite part of the whole thing is that she has made it this far and had such an impact (of course with the help of her amazing team) by just being Jenna.She has been with J.Crew for 20 years, and a well-seasoned veteran of the drab to fab "prep" novella. She leads the way with her own personal takes on things, her own personal style and personal inspirations.You can tell in the following video's how effortless and natural she is, and how beautifully-season after season, she is reflected in the J.Crew aesthetic.

 

(watching this makes me feel like I am back in that auditorium. I had no idea she was a fellow Alum! ♥. It feels secure to hear Simons accent again.)

A reminder of the real sweetness and femme chic that isn't afraid to dab in her big brother's closet and mother's jewlery box.

J.Crew Spirit Week

This week is dedicated to all things J.Crew. I am sending out love and positive vibes in hopes that J.Crew will love me back. If I began to explain why I hold them at such high esteem, or how aligned we are aesthetically, I could write a book. It's about taking classic American sportswear and dipping it in a luxe bath of gorgeous. And I am all about marrying functionality with exquisite detail and having wearable, chic babies that grow up to be in a lifestyle brand league of their own. She's like the nerdy bookworm model that doesn't know how cool she is, puts her career on the back burner and only commits to fashion weeks or licensing deals over 80k because she got into Columbia and has had a childhood dream of being a Botanist or Psychologist.I live for understated cool. 

And with all that ranting behind us, I would like to officially initiate J.Crew Spirit Week! 

We will start with some of my favorite selections from their new Spring 2011 Catalog. Shot in Hollywood with a fun "NY lovebirds do a LA weekend getaway" vibe. Enjoy!

can never get enough tay-tay

this video has a sweet and somber spirit. i fell in love with the concept of it snowing inside, her straight hair, lounging in an old grand-daddy cardi, his scarf, and the gorgeous colors and lines in the understated cinematography.

i don't know that it necessarily matches her brand image, but it matches mine.
